Hilary Elmes was born in Dublin and educated in the National College of Art and Design. She has had solo exhibitions in Belfast and Dublin. She has exhibited widely, including at: the Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin; the Royal Academy, London; and the Royal West of England Academy, Bristol. She has been represented by the Cadogan Gallery in London for many years too.
A former member of the Visual Arts Committee of Éigse Carlow, she exhibited almost annually from 1996 to 2009, and invited to show in Éigse’s thirty-year retrospective, at the VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Art, June-August 2010
