Martina McAteer is an award winning Irish Artist living in Co. Wicklow. She mostly paints with oil and gold leaf, fusing slow methodical and free playful painting. This inspires contrast of solemn feeling with hopeful, light and poetic spirit. Her work has powerful emotional impact on the viewer.
Martina is represented by prestigious galleries nationally and internationally. Her awards include: Spiritual and Fantasy Art Europe Award; People’s Choice Award ‘Pen and Brush inc.’, New York; winner of the Gateway International painting competition; selection for the Jury show ‘Herland II’ Sidney 2020 and for the Guinness Book of Records exhibition, Rome.
There is an ethereal and dreamlike quality to her work, and elements of healing. It is the artist’s intention to explore with paint, carving and layering until she reaches “that ‘eureka’...moment when the essence of the work reveals itself”.
